Polymer lithium batteries and ordinary soft pack batteries are both types of lithium-ion batteries, but they have some differences in terms of electrolytes and external packaging. Here are the main differences between them:

Electrolyte:

Polymer lithium battery: Polymer lithium battery is characterized by the use of polymer solid electrolyte, which is a solid electrolyte, usually composed of high polymer materials (such as polyethylene oxide or PVP). This electrolyte is solid and does not liquefy, so it has higher safety and is not prone to leakage or fire.

Ordinary soft-pack batteries: The electrolyte of ordinary soft-pack batteries is usually a liquid electrolyte, which is a liquid composed of organic solvents containing lithium salts. This electrolyte may leak more easily in some cases, so there is a certain safety risk compared to polymer batteries.

External packaging:

Polymer lithium batteries: The external packaging of polymer lithium batteries is usually a soft plastic film, which allows the shape of the battery to be customized as needed, so they are more flexible in design. These films are typically lighter than metal casings, helping to reduce the overall weight of the device.

Ordinary soft-pack batteries: The external packaging of ordinary soft-pack batteries is also soft plastic film, but they usually do not use polymer solid electrolytes. They are also relatively flexible in design compared to polymer lithium batteries, but the casing may be thinner or more vulnerable to physical damage.

In general, the biggest difference between polymer lithium batteries and ordinary soft-pack batteries is the electrolyte. Polymer lithium batteries use a solid polymer electrolyte, while ordinary soft-pack batteries use a liquid electrolyte. These differences have an impact in terms of performance, safety and design flexibility, so the needs and safety requirements of the specific application need to be considered when selecting a battery type.
